Dave Kiang is a retired professional engineer who has been writing poetry for most of his ninety years. The loss of his only child and his wife have immensely affected him. His engineering work with the Canadian Standards Association and consulting around the world show up in reflections on the humbling and enlightening aspects of challenges.

He took up an interest in writing poetry during his spare time while he worked as a professional engineer and consultant. Dave graduated from the University of Toronto with a B.A.Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering. He received his MBA degree from the University of Ottawa.

The Standards Council of Canada appointed Dave as a technical expert in international standards. Dave co-authored a book, Practical Application of Dependability Engineering, published in 2012. Dave had years of travelling in various countries and regions. Dave earned the rank of Rokudan (6th-degree black belt) in Judo with formal Kata training at the Kodokan in Japan.

David also has a Facebook page devoted to his poetry and selected photographs. He lives in a seniors residence where his enthusiasm for life and his poetry writing have made him a popular figure. This is his third book of poetry,
